World over, the last Monday in the month of May is observed as Memorial Day. A day reserved for remembrance of war heroes. On this day, the annual Rescue Me Lagos memorial ride took place. This ride is organised every year and is in honour of bikers whose lives were lost in a motorcycle accident.
Now speaking of accidents, if you or anyone you know rides, rescue me Lagos is a contact you should have. Get on their Instagram handle @rescue_me_lagos, follow them and register. They will come get you in the event of an accident or break down... for free! Yes you heard me!! Free!!! Awesome yea?
Arrangements and riding patterns all sorted out and at a few minutes past 2pm we headed out to the burial site of Khalifa, and boy was it solemn? The entire group of over 80 super bikes were pacing at just under 70km/h all the way from the national stadium Surulere via C.M.S to the third mainland bridge, Adeniji Adele and arriving at Atan cemetery. The entire ambience as men and women dismounted their bikes was calm and very reserved. The sight of so many burial sites had reminded everyone of the obvious end to this life.

Rites observed, respects paid and we set off back to the national stadium. This time via Herbert McCaulay and Jibowu arriving at the stadium. By this time, boys had cheered up and were beginning to enjoy each other’s company more. A few minutes of refreshments and togetherness and we called it a day.
