Post-Covid dash with the GoodFellas

One of the joys of motorcycling is the freedom it offers! The Rona tried to take that away!! I guess this was our way of saying NO NO NO!!!

For me, it started with a call from my man Mazino (MMM πŸ˜†) indicating that there was a quick ride to the Hedge and honestly I was battling with the idea of just getting some rest over the weekend as I felt a bit under the weather. Anyways after the long lockdown, there is absolutely no way I am going to let this decently distanced ride pass me by. We agree on a time as the date is fixed.
8:00 AM Saturday came early and I called Mazi for an 'update'. No response. Almost always a good thing on riding days. Means he's on his way. Shortly after, I get a call from Oseni with plans to meet at the palms. Mazi and I quickly hookup and head to the mall where we meet up with Oseni, Alisa, Byso, Danny, Arab, Gongo, K.K. Palmer, and a few other riders. Quickly, we split into 2 groups and set out for the Hedge.

Getting through to Ajah was a breeze. Ajah itself was a whole 'nother story tho. Little did we know that that was an intro to the road ahead. Ajah traffic, Sangotedo traffic, Novare mall traffic, and Lakowe traffic all got me feeling edgy and angry. Anyhow, we pull through to Eleko junction and stop for a short rest with corn and drinks. Now, non-riders expect that traffic is not uncomfortable for bikers... Wrong! We just make lemonade out of traffic lemons.

On arrival

Eleko to the Hedge was the most enjoyable stretch tho despite the 264 speed bumps lol. They were decent stretches with little or no traffic. We get to the refinery and turn into the Hedge. One word? Beautiful! The bikes add to the beauty tho and the music can be heard from the gates. We pull up, un-gear and just then I realize its been ages since I saw these brethren of mine. For the grace to come out of the lockdown in good health, I am grateful. Pleasantries ensue and we get into the groove. The events lined up for the day are many and promising but we quickly attack the food first. The jollof and turkey go well and we proceed to settle into our rooms.

Quickly we freshen up and head over to the beach for beach volley (of some sort lol). As it becomes dark, we move back inside for some rest while the burn fire is setup. Inside there's a lot to eat and drink and we do just that. The night gently eases up with a lot of dancing and catching up on old times and one by one we trickle to bed. Early Sunday morning, we wake up early (as is customary), start with a healthy breakfast and one after the other, riders start heading out. At about 10:00 AM, MMM and I gear up and head out. A sweet short ride and next thing you know, V.I is upon me (I wonder why return trips seem shorter).

On exit!

Anyways, I say my byes and get in. All in all, 'twas an amazing weekend with amazing folks. Big shout out to the Goodfellas motorcycling club for hosting. Groovers MC, I greet oh! #WeMove
